  1. Good thoughts Daniel! While we still have a few years before Madison is a teen, we began “talking to her like an adult” when she began talking. Since then, we’ve developed numerous ways for her to lead herself and others — she’ll be 7 next month. This summer we get to start over with a boy!

  2. Daniel,
Great timing and I WAS at that session at the Experiece…and I STILL mess up!! Boy, if I am teaching them how to communicate as they are growing up, I have had a tough month. But, I still have a few years to get it right. It ill fly by, though.

    Thanks for sharing.

We all make those mistakes John. Ask for forgiveness, learn and keep parenting with intentionality!

Daniel, you are so right. I would only change one word in your good advice that in my case as been key. It’s not as much taking to them as young adults — but talk WITH them as young adults. I think they react more against us when we tell them what to do or not do, but it works better as we talk through issues with them.
